Longtail House (Landscape Architecture)

OBMI designed Longtail House to be a modern home, wrapped in classic Bermudian architecture. The style and interior design concepts were impeccably tailored to the family’s requirements and lifestyle. Equally important was the family’s love for the outdoors. The landscape designs were influenced by their desire to create a warm inviting and tranquil atmosphere, while establishing a seamless transition from the indoors to out. Each component of the landscape architecture design was strategic, meticulous and aesthetically conceived.

The drive leading to the property is lined with mature Washingtonian Palms, Canary Island Date Palms and Oleanders. Each tree relocated from existing areas of the property added dramatic curb appeal, and offered windbreaks to the nearby orchard. The driveway design is a unique and alluring means to conceal the storm water management system buried beneath. The circular drive is complete with a centerpiece garden hosting a Poinciana tree. The client’s adoration of vibrant plant life and English Country gardens is illustrated at the home’s front entrance, where the landscape selections included Old Bermuda Roses, Impatience, Pentas and Frangipani flanking the door.

In the back of the house, an integrated sense of serenity and family is harmoniously portrayed. The infinity pool, outdoor spa and shower overlook the ocean, and create an ideal space for reflection. At the same time, the outdoor patio and sprawling oceanfront yard, is designed to be the perfect setting for entertaining and outdoor enjoyment.

The overall landscape architecture design of Longtail, addressed many of the challenges an oceanfront home can experience. OBMI ensured this was accomplished without deviating from the aesthetics and ecological importance of the property.
