Hawkins Island (Landscape Architecture)
OBMI designed a luxury private island escape for guests to enjoy the natural splendor of the Great Sound and harbour islands. As part of the exquisite project, OBMI produced the masterplan for the exterior landscape of the property. This included 25 acres of native Bermuda topography.
The objective for the landscape architect, was to create and combine the sense of luxury with serenity. This was accomplished, with the unique concept of integrating indoor aspects with the outdoors. An element of this vision was the graceful transition of the bathroom space into an outdoor garden, revealing an exotic and private outdoor shower area. This delivered a spa like atmosphere, where guests can discreetly feel at one with nature.
A second component involved the surroundings of the hot tub verandah. OBMI designed railings offering unobstructed views of the Great Sound, making an idea location for guest to relax and enjoy the spectacular views. Topping it off, wooded trails were created for guests, so they can have points of reference when exploring the private island.
The overall design of the property created a tropical Zen-like experience.
