Representatives of the Bermuda Government, the Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC), Aecon, and Bermuda Skyport Corporation Limited joined together to officially break ground on the new 277,300 sq. ft. airport terminal and announced OBM International as one of the four local firms awarded Bermuda airport design contracts.
In the redevelopment project for Bermuda’s L. F. Wade International Airport, OBMI will be responsible for both the architecture and landscape architecture, working with Aecon to review and provide input on the design development of the new passenger terminal. As the principal liaison in Bermuda between the design and construction teams, OBMI will ensure all conditions of the planning permissions are adhered to.
“Local expertise is invaluable in every project and we’re delighted to be working with these Bermudian firms,” said Frank Ross, Aecon’s executive director of infrastructure.
“Having worked with them during the design phase, we know the local talent that they can bring to the table. We’re happy to have them as partners as we begin the construction phase of the project.”
The construction phase of the project is expected to last until the first quarter of 2020.
